Died on the 10th of December
1809 at the house of Martin Davenport in Burke County, Mr. Thomas Davenport, in
the 98th year of his age. He raised six daughters and one son. His eldest daughter,
Sophia, the wife of William White, Esq. of Burke County, hath at this time upwards
of 100 of her posterity living and it has been ascertained that from Thomas Davenport,
counting as the first, there are more than forty of his posterity now living in
the fifth generation. Thomas Davenport's five youngest children each raised large
families and it is computed that the posterity of those now living amount to more
than five hundred."
