Surry Co. VA was formed in 1652 from James City. (see present day map for location).
On Jun 22, 1702 James received a land grant in Surry Co.
On Jun 22, 1704 Thomas Taylor signed a premarital agreement with the executor of the estate of son-in-law Thomas Chappell and Elizabeth Chappell's brother, James Jones Jr.
On Feb 20 1719, son-in-law Thomas Taylor, then of Surry Co. patented 400 acres bounded on the north side of Warwick Swamp, on the border between Surry & Prince George Counties, by the Long Meadow Branch, and the corner of Robert Hunnicut, for which he paid 40 shillings.
Prince George County Virginia was established in 1702 and its boundaries defined by 1703. (see present day map for location). Prince George of Denmark was the husband of England's reigning Queen Anne. Originally, its southern boundary was the North Carolina line.
James second wife is named in his will dated Apr 6 1719, probated May 12, 1719.
