James first wife, Diana Chism, was the daughter of John and Elianna (Eleanor?) Chism or Chisman.
The Goodwin homestead was a two-story imposing structure facing Goodwin Island on the thorofare in what is now know as Dandy. The house was torn down shortly after 1900.
John Holloway of Prince George Co. 250 acres; patented to JH Mar 24, 1725, deeded Feb 12, 1730 to Thos. Lawrence; Eliz Holloway relinquishes her dower right. On May, 1728 Charles Holloway deeded 100 acres to John Goodwyn of Surry on Mirey Meadow, being a part of the land left to John, Edward & Charles by their father. Signed by Chas H., witnessed by Edw. H[olloway]. Witnesses were Thomas Goodwyn, Thomas Taylor, Jr. [son of Thomas Taylor Sr.], George Bagley [Prince George County, Virginia Deeds 1713-28, page 1099]. Thomas Taylor Jr. married Penelope Goodwyn, the daughter of the deed recipient John Goodwyn.
